Hardware, Network & Windows Configuration Requirements

1. Windows Server Specification –
Minimum Requirement for a server being used by standard/fat clients via a Local Area Network (LAN)

For PromoServe, Transaction and Customer FOCUS

• 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor or higher
• 1 GB RAM or higher
• 1 GB free disk space – will also depend on volume of data stored
• SVGA Monitor (800 x 600 Minimum Resolution)
• Windows Server 2003 (We do NOT recommend Microsoft SBS Small Business Server)
• Opportunistic Locking disabled in the registry
• Minimum 100Mbps Ethernet Card (Wireless connection not recommended)
• Minimum 100Mbps Ethernet Hub
• For 10 or more users a dedicated server is strongly recommended
  
  

2.  Windows Server Specification –
Minimum Requirement for a server being used by thin clients over the internet via IS Easy Access Web / Mac Client

For PromoServe, Transaction and Customer FOCUS

• 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor or higher
• 2 GB RAM  - need 64MB RAM per user
• 1 GB free disk space – will also depend on volume of data stored
• SVGA Monitor (800 x 600 Minimum Resolutions)
• Windows Server 2003 with IS Easy Access Cluster Manager Installed
• We do NOT recommend Microsoft SBS Small Business Server or Windows Server 2003 64 bit
• Fixed Internet IP Address
• 2MB or higher Internet Connection
• Router with Port Forwarding capabilities
• For 10 or more users a dedicated server is strongly recommended  
   

3.  Windows Server Specification –
Minimum Server Specification for IS Integrate Control Panel that controls access between your back office software and your Quick Order Web Portal

Normally hosted on the same server as the back office software

• Windows Server 2000 SP4 or 2003 (We do NOT recommend Microsoft SBS Small Business Server)
• 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor or higher
• 1 GB RAM or higher
• 500 MB free disk space
• Windows Services Enabled
• Broadband Internet Connection
• 100Mbps Ethernet Card
• 100Mbps Ethernet Hub
• Outgoing Web Access – can be restricted to specific URLs
• A dedicated server for your Integrate Control Panel is strongly recommended (in addition to server required in 1. & 2. above)
  
  

4.  Local Area Network Specification - Minimum Requirement

• Minimum 100Mbps Speed (prefer 1GB)
• No faulty network cables or connections as they may lead to data corruption
• Network must have available capacity for number of PCs likely to request data from server
• Cabling must be Category 5 or higher
  

5.  Client PC Specification - Minimum Requirement

• PC Intel Pentium 3 – 500 MHz with 256MB RAM
• 25Mb free disk space
• SVGA Monitor (800 x 600 Resolution)
• Windows XP Professional or Vista Business
• Mapped Network Drive to Server
  

6.  Windows Operating System - General Comments

• Must be a professional network enabled version not Windows XP Home, Windows ME, Windows 98 or Windows 95
• We do NOT recommend Microsoft SBS Small Business Server
• Opportunist Locking – must be turned off in the registry
• Permissions issues – All clients must have read write access to all files in the data folder on the server
  

7.  Apple Mac Client (Thin Client Only)

To operate our software via an Apple Mac you will need to purchase our Easy Access Web/Mac Client.

8.  PDA Client

To operate our software via a PDA you will need a GPRS/3G enabled PDA running Windows Mobile 5 or 6 with Remote Desktop/Terminal Services installed on PDA & Server

9.   Antivirus Software

This may cause the programme to slow down if it checks all requests to the server for data from the clients PC. Please check configuration. TPS files in the data folder should not need to be checked. (We do not recommend Norton Anti-Virus)

10.  Task Scheduler

Please make sure you have this option if you wish to run automated processes such as Auto Import / Auto Export.

11.  Windows Services

Please ensure you have access to Windows Services if you wish to configure the Integrate Control Panel.
